OFF COURSE WORKSHOP
< Sculpting with Hanji & Light Workshop >
This is a hands-on workshop where you make something from the ground up. You start with a table of materials, and you decide what to do with them.
Hanji and wire are the base. They allow thin and soft shape and let light through. Alongside it you'll have thread, beads and bamboo cane to work with. You can wrap, bind, hang or layer them in whatever way suits you.
As you build, we'll test your sculpture against a light. You'll see where it glows and where it casts a shadow, and you can change it as you go. By the end, the light is part of the sculpture rather than something added to it.
The aim is a cozy, organic form with your own decoration in it. We'll make it together over an afternoon, at an easy pace. You don't need any experience. We'll show you each step, and you can always ask for help.
You leave with a finished light sculpture, ready to switch on at home.
What is Hanji?
Hanji is traditional Korean paper made from the inner bark of the mulberry tree. Its long fibers make it stronger and more flexible than standard paper.
